Features and care
Stephanotis floribunda, known as the Madagascar jasmine, is an elegant, evergreen tropical climber with medium growth. It is grown for its white, fragrant flowers, especially on sheltered patios, in greenhouses, bright interiors and containers with support that can be sheltered during cold months.
It develops twining stems and opposite, oval, leathery, glossy, dark green leaves. Its tubular flowers open into five star-shaped lobes, waxy in texture and intensely fragrant, gathered in clusters. Flowering can extend from spring to autumn when it has constant light, warmth and humidity.
It prefers a very bright exposure, with gentle full sun or light part shade, and cool-to-moist, fertile, well-drained soil. It needs regular watering to keep moisture even during growth, without waterlogging. With support it reaches 3 to 6 m. It falls within USDA zones 10–12 and is very sensitive to cold, so it needs stable temperatures, ventilation and winter protection.
At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size and abundant flowering from the first years of planting.
