Features and care
Eucalyptus cinerea, known as the silver dollar gum, is an evergreen tree valued above all for its aromatic foliage. Young branches are used in floral arrangements, while mature specimens bring a blue-grey contrast to large gardens and plantings with a lasting structure.
Its juvenile leaves are rounded, opposite and silvery, with a texture unlike that of other broadleaved trees. It can be kept shrubby through management or develop into a single-trunked tree. The flowers are small and white, and are scarce on young plants or those grown in containers.
It needs full sun and reaches 10 to 15 m when left to grow freely. On cool, well-drained soil it needs moderate watering during the warm months, letting the ground aerate between applications. It tolerates high humidity and belongs to USDA zones 8–10. Young specimens should be protected from severe frosts and watering adjusted to their growth activity.
At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size and abundant flowering from the first years of planting.
