Cedrus atlantica

Features and care

The Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica) is a large, moderately growing evergreen tree native to the mountains of North Africa. It can reach 20 to 30 meters in height, developing a straight trunk and a broad, pyramidal crown in young specimens, which becomes progressively more spread out with age. Its branches are arranged in a staggered fashion and have dense foliage composed of short needles, grouped in small fascicles, with a bluish-green or grayish-green color. It is a highly valued species in parks and large gardens for its majestic stature, hardiness, and attractive foliage.

During its development, it produces upright, cylindrical cones with green hues that later turn brown as they mature. Its foliage remains year-round, providing structure and color even during the coldest months. It is a hardy species, well-adapted to temperate and continental climates, drought-tolerant once established, and suitable for spaces where it can fully develop its ample structure.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size, a uniform structure and vigorous development from the first years of planting.
