Cupressus arizonica

Features and care

The Arizona cypress (Cupressus arizonica) is an elegant, fast-growing evergreen tree native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It can reach 10 to 20 meters in height, developing a relatively compact and well-defined conical or pyramidal crown. Its foliage consists of small, scale-like leaves densely arranged on the branches, ranging in color from bluish-green to silvery-gray, giving it a distinctive appearance year-round. It is a highly valued ornamental species due to its hardiness, upright growth habit, and attractive foliage.

During its development, it produces small, globose cones, green in color, which turn grayish-brown as they mature. Its bark, initially reddish or grayish, becomes darker and more fibrous with age. It is a drought-resistant species that tolerates various soil conditions, provided there is good drainage, and it adapts particularly well to dry, temperate, and continental climates. Its compact structure also makes it suitable for planting in rows, hedges, and large landscaped areas.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size, a uniform structure and vigorous development from the first years of planting.
