Features and care
Bignonia jasminoides, now identified as Pandorea jasminoides and commonly known as the bower vine, is a vigorous, woody, evergreen climber. Its dense foliage and elegant flowering make it ideal for dressing pergolas, fences, trellises and vertical structures in warm, sheltered gardens.
It has twining stems and glossy, dark green compound leaves made up of lance-shaped or oval leaflets. It produces clusters of white or pale pink tubular flowers, usually with a deeper pink throat. Afterwards it can form elongated pods with winged seeds. It flowers from late spring through summer.
It grows in full sun or bright part shade and needs cool-to-moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Watering should keep moisture even, especially in warm weather, without waterlogging the roots. With support it reaches 4 to 8 m and shows fast growth. It falls within USDA zones 9–11 and needs protection from frost, cold wind and overly exposed sites.
At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size and abundant flowering from the first years of planting.
