Jasminum sambac

Features and care

Jasminum sambac, known as the Arabian jasmine, is an evergreen shrub that can be trained as a climber with the help of a support. It is valued for its intensely fragrant flowers and suits patios, terraces, warm gardens and large containers that can be sheltered during winter.

It forms spreading branches with broad, oval, glossy, dark green leaves. The white, waxy, fragrant flowers appear in small clusters and contrast with the compact foliage. Flowering is concentrated in summer in temperate conditions and can recur for much of the year in tropical settings where warm temperatures are maintained.

It prefers full sun or bright part shade and moist, fertile, well-drained soil. It needs regular watering to keep moisture even during growth, with special attention in warm periods, but without waterlogging. It reaches 1.5 to 3 m and shows medium growth. It falls within USDA zones 9b–12 and is very sensitive to frost, so it should be placed in warm, ventilated, sheltered settings.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size and abundant flowering from the first years of planting.
