Araucaria excelsa

Features and care

The Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria excelsa), also known as the Norfolk Island pine, is an elegant, upright evergreen tree native to Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. It can reach impressive sizes under favorable conditions, developing a straight trunk and a symmetrical crown formed by branches arranged in regular tiers. Its leaves are narrow, stiff, and a deep green, providing a distinctive and uniform texture year-round. It is a highly valued ornamental species for its architectural silhouette and its ability to add height and presence to gardens and outdoor spaces.

During its development, it maintains a well-defined pyramidal structure, especially in young specimens, while with age it can acquire a broader and more majestic form. Its dense foliage covers the branches evenly, creating an orderly and balanced appearance. It adapts particularly well to temperate and humid climates, although it requires protection from intense and prolonged frosts. It can also be grown in large pots during its early years, where its vertical growth makes it a very distinctive ornamental species.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size, a uniform structure and vigorous development from the first years of planting.
