Cupressus macrocarpa

Features and care

The Monterey cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) is a large, fast-growing evergreen tree native to the California coast. It can reach 20 to 30 meters in height, developing a broad, dense, and irregular crown with characteristically spreading branches. Its foliage consists of small, scale-like leaves, densely clustered and dark green in color, although some ornamental varieties have yellowish-green tones. It is a highly valued species for its hardiness, rapid growth, and ability to form impressive stands.

During its development, it produces small, globular, green cones that later turn brown as they mature. Its trunk has a grayish-brown bark that becomes thicker and more fissured with age. Once established, it is a species resistant to maritime exposure, winds, and periods of drought, making it particularly suitable for coastal areas and large gardens. It can also be used in windbreaks, rows, and as a specimen tree.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size, a uniform structure and vigorous development from the first years of planting.
