Juniperus media

Features and care

Juniperus × media, commonly known as hybrid juniper, is an evergreen shrub or small tree of variable size and moderate growth, primarily resulting from a cross between Juniperus chinensis and Juniperus sabina. It can reach between 2 and 5 meters in height, depending on the variety, developing a dense, branched structure that can be compact, spreading, or slightly columnar. Its foliage is evergreen and features scale-like leaves, generally deep green, bluish-green, or grayish-green, adding texture and color year-round. It is a popular species in ornamental gardening due to its hardiness and variety of forms.

During its development, it can produce small, fleshy cones in bluish or bluish-gray hues, which contrast with the foliage. Its branches are abundant and compact, making it suitable for use as a specimen tree or in groups, borders, hedges, and landscape compositions. It is resistant to various soil conditions and tolerates drought well once established, provided it has good drainage and adequate exposure.

At Ornacom we cultivate each specimen directly, guaranteeing a balanced size, a uniform structure and vigorous development from the first years of planting.
