The “Olive Tree”, Olea europaea, is a perennial tree native to the Mediterranean basin, of incomparable ornamental value, known for its longevity, silver foliage, and its fruits, olives, the source of precious olive oil.

Its enormous versatility in cultivation forms—from shrubby specimens to trained standards, bonsais, or sculptural pompom-like pieces—makes it one of the most sought-after ornamental trees in Mediterranean landscaping, both as a singular feature and in groupings.

Once established, it tolerates drought, heat, and poor, calcareous soils very well, provided it has good drainage.
