Melia azedarach

The Melia azedarach, commonly known as the Chinaberry tree, is a fast-growing deciduous tree native to South Asia and Australia. It is notable for its broad, rounded canopy, light-looking bipinnate foliage, and clusters of highly fragrant lilac flowers, followed by yellow fruits that persist after the leaves fall.

Its rapid development and dense shade make it a popular choice as a shade tree for streets, walkways, and Mediterranean gardens.

It tolerates drought, urban pollution, and poor soils very well, provided there is good drainage.
